$44 million
Eden Breakwater Wharf Extension Project
The Eden Breakwater Wharf Extension was a State Significant Infrastructure project and investment to drive economic activity.
Description
The Port of Eden is an active working port, a premier location for whale watching, and an increasingly popular cruise destination strategically positioned between Sydney and Melbourne.
The $44 million Eden Breakwater Wharf Extension was a State Significant Infrastructure project and a significant investment to drive economic activity in the south-east of the state.
Extending the existing Breakwater Wharf has allowed cruise ships up to 326 metres in length to berth at the port resulting in improved access and safety.
Approach
Comacon developed a comprehensive Community Communication Strategy ensuring timely, relevant and comprehensive communications of construction activities and impacts on all stakeholders.
Before construction, Comacon established relationships and worked to ensure construction would not impact port operations and businesses including the NSW Water Police, Borderforce, professional fishermen, charter tour operators, local cafes and the Sapphire Coast Marine Discovery Centre.
Comacon, worked as part of a multi-disciplinary project team, and was responsible for all engagement and communication activities on behalf of the client, contractors and the principal’s representative for the duration of construction.
